What to eat before and after exercise? www.facebook.com Eating before exercise should give you as much energy for your workout as possible. Too much food in the belly will cause you to feel lethargic and may also cause stomach cramps while you're trying to exercise, so it's best to avoid big meals for about 2 hours before your workout. What you are looking for is a snack will give an energy boost without being too heavy on the stomach. A banana is a very good choice. Energy from a banana will be released at different rates depending on it's ripeness. So a brown banana will be very sweet and release it energy much quicker than a slightly green one. Other possible snacks could be any type of fruit, oatcakes, carrot sticks with hummus? Whats more important than what to eat before and after exercise is What should you have when you are finished? I can't stress enough that the most important thing about exercise is the recovery afterwards. If you are not eating the right foods then all the exercise in the world will not make the slightest difference. In an ideal situation you should finish your workout, have a shower then eat one of your main meals of the day. If your meal is going to be more than an hour away then a small snack is advices. Your snack should consist of some protein as this will help repair your muscles and speed up recovery. Have you gotten the crud (yup, that's a technical term for sinus cold) that is going around right now? If not, you are LUCKY! If so, then you know exactly how I feel right now. Stay tuned to my Tumblr page (IronShawna.Tumblr.com) for photos of my homemade chicken noodle soup, made with a quadruple threat of ginger, garlic, onion and a touch of spicy green pepper. In the meantime, I have a very important question for you what do some parents do when their kid doesn't like a particular food? If deemed important enough, the parent might get creative and "hide" that food as something unrecognizable so that the kid doesn't know that they're eating it. So, what do adults do when they don't like a particular food? Avoid it, obviously. It's a little tougher to fool adults, especially when they are preparing their own food. I generally do not like the texture of eggplant and avoid it at most costs. However, I recently received an eggplant that I did not wish to waste. So, I pulled out my "parent hat" and got creative about preparing it so that I didn't know what I was eating! This is a proud daddy moment for me right about now.... My daughter, Alessia (aka -- Ali) wanted a ham egg & cheese on almond Paleo Bread™ made by Julian Bakery.
